In this 2 hour presentation we will cover four main members of the nightshade family, known for their potent chemistry and extensive folklore; datura, belladonna, mandrake and henbane. From surgeon’s salves to witches flying ointments we will discuss how these plants have been prepared and used topically for a wide variety of purposes both medicinal and magical.  We will cover different methods of topical application to enhance the effectiveness of these preparations. 

We will also discuss step-by-step methods of formulation using these plants including vegetable based salves, poultices and alcohol extracts. Attendees will learn a variety of techniques and tips for enhanced efficacy both in the preparation and application of these formulas.

Finally we will cover potential therapeutic uses for these formulas as well as the medicinal possibilities that these plants have to offer.
